Compensation: $35/hr – $95/hr (Pending seniority/leadership experience)

garden3d is a worker-owned creative collective known for its high-profile client roster, including Google, Stripe, Figma, and The Nobel Prize. They are the engineering force behind products like The Light Phone and are seeking a senior developer who prioritizes “pixel-perfect” execution and high-performance code.

The Ideal Candidate

The collective looks for “well-rounded” individuals who often have interests in art, music, or design. You should be someone who works “smart,” manages dependencies intelligently, and thrives in “deep work” environments.

Must-Have Technical Expertise

  • Experience: 8+ years of writing performant frontend code (obsessed with 95+ Lighthouse scores).

  • Frameworks: Expert-level TypeScript + one of Next.js, Nuxt, Svelte, or Vue.

  • Headless CMS: Fluency in Sanity, Contentful, or Prismic.

  • PaaS & eCommerce: Deep knowledge of Vercel/Netlify and Shopify (Headless/Liquid) or Stripe.

  • Modern CSS: Mastery of Tailwind, CSS Modules, and animation libraries.

  • Testing: Proficiency in Jest, Playwright, or Cypress.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Creative Tech: WebGL, Three.js, or D3.js for interactive visualizations.

  • Full-Stack: Experience with PostgreSQL, GraphQL, and API design.

  • Leadership: Background in engineering management or product roadmapping.

Core Responsibilities

  • UI/UX: Building responsive, accessible, and pixel-perfect interfaces from design specs.

  • Architecture: Developing scalable component libraries and design systems.

  • Optimization: Managing bundle sizes, load times, and real-time data via WebSockets.

  • Collaboration: Participating in sprint planning and constructive code reviews with a decentralized team.

How garden3d Works

  • Worker-Owned & Transparent: They share P&L statements and open-source their ideas.

  • Climate Conscious: Certified 150% Carbon Negative; they actively turn down work that doesn’t meet sustainability standards.

  • Async-First: Prioritizing calm, thoughtful communication over constant meetings.

  • Project Length: Most projects are a minimum of 8 weeks at 40 hours/week, but they seek long-term relationships.

? Application Process

Important: Do not apply via Remotive. You must use the collective’s direct application form.

  1. Application: Complete the garden3d Application Form.

  2. Initial Call: Meet members of the team to discuss culture and fit.

  3. Technical Exercise: A practical demonstration of your coding style and skill level.
