Rosenior was recently named Chelsea manager following the departure of Enzo Maresca, a decision that has sparked mixed reactions among football pundits and fans.
Chelsea’s decision to hand Rosenior the job is closely linked to the club’s ownership structure. The Englishman was previously in charge of Strasbourg, a Ligue 1 side also owned by BlueCo, the consortium led by Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly.
Reacting to the appointment, Campbell suggested that Rosenior’s move to Stamford Bridge was a natural progression within the ownership group.
“It’s good to have Liam Rosenior as the new Chelsea manager,” Campbell said.
“That’s because Todd Boehly owns Strasbourg. They said he’s done a great job and sent him to Chelsea.
“So it all worked out for him. It’s nice to have a young manager in the league.”
However, the former Arsenal defender believes Rosenior’s stay at Chelsea may be short-lived, describing the appointment as more of a temporary opportunity than a long-term project.
“I don’t think they’re going to keep him around long, he’s probably just there for a short time,” Campbell added.
“But it’s a great experience. He can play some games and get a feel for what the top league is like. That will be great for him.”
Campbell also expressed hope that Rosenior would use the opportunity to build his managerial credentials.
“I hope he keeps doing well in the future,he said.
Naija News reports that Rosenior began life as Chelsea boss on a positive note, guiding the Blues to an emphatic 5–1 victory over Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.
The result offered early encouragement for the former Hull City boss as he settles into one of the most demanding jobs in English football.
Chelsea’s early test under Rosenior continues on Wednesday when the Blues host Arsenal in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals at Stamford Bridge, a fixture that carries extra significance given Campbell’s Arsenal roots.
The encounter is expected to provide a clearer indication of Rosenior’s readiness for the pressures of top-level management and whether he can defy predictions of a short stay at the club.
