Okpebholo Inaugurates 21 Commissioners and Board Members, Signaling New Chapter for Edo

In a significant step towards forming his administration, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has officially sworn in 21 new Commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Government House in Benin City on Tuesday, marks a pivotal moment as the governor moves to put his governance team in place, following his recent electoral victory.

In his address during the ceremony, Governor Okpebholo charged the new appointees to see their roles as a call to service and a sacred trust bestowed upon them by the people of Edo State. He emphasized that their primary focus must be on the delivery of tangible dividends of democracy to every corner of the state.

“The people of Edo have placed their trust in us, and we must not fail them,” Governor Okpebholo stated. “Your appointments are not for personal aggrandizement but for diligent service. I expect nothing less than utmost dedication, integrity, and a results-oriented approach from every one of you.”

The newly inaugurated officials comprise 18 Commissioners and three Special Advisers, who will also serve as members of the State Executive Council. The portfolios for the commissioners are expected to be announced in the coming days.

The event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including top members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, traditional rulers, and family members of the newly sworn-in officials. The atmosphere was one of optimism, with many expressing hope that the new team would hit the ground running to address the state’s pressing challenges.

This move is widely seen as Governor Okpebholo’s effort to assemble a competent team that will drive his administration’s policy thrust, focusing on areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agricultural development.

With the executive council now in place, the people of Edo State will be looking forward to the swift implementation of policies and programs aimed at improving their standard of living and fostering sustainable development across the state.
