Elizabeth Holmes’s Partner Raises Millions for New Biotech Startup:

Elizabeth Holmes’s partner, Billy Evans, has raised millions for a new biotech startup called Haemanthus, which is Latin for “blood flower.” The company, still in its early stages, is focused on using AI and light detection technology, specifically Raman spectroscopy, to develop affordable medical testing for conditions like ALS and certain cancers. Holmes, currently serving an 11-year prison sentence for defrauding investors in her former company Theranos, is advising Evans on the venture. The startup has about a dozen employees, some of whom previously worked with Evans at Luminar Technologies, and has raised funds primarily from friends, family, and supporters. Haemanthus aims to make this technology commercially viable, though the final product is still under development. Holmes, despite her conviction, plans to resume her biotech career post-release and has been writing patents from prison.
