Mass Shooting in North Philadelphia Leaves 2 dead, 9 injured Near Fairmont Park

On May 26, 2025, a mass shooting in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park near Lemon Hill Drive and Poplar Drive left two people dead—an adult man and an adult woman—and nine others injured. The incident occurred around 10:27 p.m. during a car meetup, with multiple rounds fired, possibly from a weapon modified with an illegal “switch” to fire fully automatically, according to Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel.

Among the injured were three teenagers aged 15, 16, and 17, with the remaining victims being adults. No arrests have been made, no weapons recovered, and the motive remains unclear. The large crime scene, coupled with the presence of multiple groups at the park during Memorial Day celebrations, has complicated the investigation. Police are analyzing video evidence and working to determine if one or multiple shooters were involved.
